Gary Stanley, the recent addition to the advisory board of First Phosphate Corp. (CSE: PHOS) and is the former Director of the Office of Critical Minerals and Metals in the Industry & Analysis (I&A) unit of the Commerce Department’s International Trade Administration (ITA). Prior to his separation from U.S. Government service, Mr. Stanley led an office of 10 industry and trade specialists that monitored a wide range of sectors, including critical minerals, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, building products, chemicals, and forest products. The office performed industry and trade analysis, actively supported U.S. trade policy activities, participated in trade negotiations and international agreements, and organized trade promotion and facilitation programs in order to improve the global competitiveness of a range of U.S. materials industries.

During his tenure at the Commerce Department, Mr. Stanley developed extensive recognition for his subject matter expertise and policy acumen related to the global critical minerals sector. He was the lead coordinating author for the June 2019 Federal Critical Mineral Strategy. Following the release of that report, Mr. Stanley served as Commerce Department’s lead critical mineral industry and trade specialist and was assigned to be the department’s first-ever Director of the Office of Critical Minerals and Metals.

As Office Director, Mr. Stanley actively engaged with the White House, the U.S. Government interagency, and the private sector on a broad range of critical minerals-related policies and activities, including the Inflation Reduction Act, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the Defense Department’s Defense Production Act, and the CHIPS Act.
