OZRE '26

OZRE ’26 is a research conference on the state-of-the-art in rare earth science, bringing together researchers in chemistry, biomedicine and physics of the rare earth elements. This year, we are attempting to broaden the scope of the research discussions, hence, in the spirit of inclusivity, please aim to make your science accessible to researchers outside your immediate discipline.

To that end, we are running parallel to REECON+ on day two, which will give attendees of both conference an opportunity to interact and discuss both sides of the rare earth story. We hope the networking session at the end of the second day will be particularly useful for building new relationships and finding future opportunities.

Venue

OZRE ’26 will take place in the Research School of Physics at The Australian National University, 60 Mills Rd, Acton ACT 2601. Situated at the edge of Lake Burley Griffin, the venue is about a 25 minute scenic walk, or 7 minute drive, from the main bus station and light rail terminus. Parking on campus is all paid, using the “PayStay” app.

Registration

OZRE ’26 will be a flat-fee of $200 for all attendees. Registration includes the full two-days, including participation in the first day of REECON+. This includes morning and afternoon teas, lunches and evening networking sessions.

Registrations are now open.

Dinners

For a more substantial evening meal, we can recommend several nearby options: Symposium (large groups may require reservation), Rebel Rebel (reservations required) or Bicicletta, depending on budget and taste. Alternatively, the Civic area of Canberra is a short walk and has a variety of fantastic options for all tastes.

Accommodation

There are many hotels at various budget levels in the area. The light-rail which runs north-south along Northbourne Ave is very efficient and cost-effective for getting to the University, so any accommodation a short walk from Northbourne Ave is a good option.

WiFi

Eduroam is available across campus.

Free WiFi will be available for conference attendees.
